Measles Outbreak

Sloane Medical Practice is pleased to announce that the MMR vaccine is available for just £100.

To quote the Health Protection Agency: Children between 6-12 months should be given a dose of MMR vaccine as soon as possible. This dose is an ’extra dose’ and must not be counted as equivalent to the normal first dose at 13 months of age. They would require two further doses at the normal ages (13 months and 3 years 4 months.)

Children aged 12 months or over. If your child has never had MMR give the first dose as soon as possible, followed by a second dose after one month. If your child has had the first dose, give the second dose now, provided the first dose was given at least one month ago. If the second dose is given to a child under the age of 18 months, they will require the third pre-school dose as usual. However if your child has the second dose over the age of 18 months this counts as the pre-school booster.

If your child has had the single measles vaccination, your child should still receive 2 doses of MME as a number of children who have had the single measles vaccine have developed measles.

***The above applies to children who may have been exposed to the infection.

*Children of health care workers should have the vaccinations as described above.

Please call Sloane Medical Practice on 020 7235 3002 for queries regarding the above.
